Lewis Drug Joins County Fair Expansion

Tuesday August 16th, 2011

County Fair Food Store of Mitchell is pleased to announce a new addition to their building expansion to be completed in Spring of 2012. Lewis Drug will begin providing pharmacy services within County Fair.

Lewis Drug will be located in the east front end of County Fair with drive-thru convenience. Along with providing pharmacy services, Lewis will also offer over-the-counter medications and health and beauty supplies.

Established in 1942 in Sioux Falls, SD, shoppers have trusted family-owned Lewis Drug for over 65 years as their neighborhood pharmacy. With 33 stores throughout South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota, Lewis Drug is looking forward to bringing their medical expertise and family friendly service to the Mitchell area.

Mark Griffin, President and CEO of Lewis Drugs, Inc., is excited about working with County Fair to provide a more complete shopping experience to residents in the Mitchell area. “We always want to be the customers’ first stop.”

County Fair was first purchased by John Clarke in 1984 when it was Bennett’s Market of Mitchell. Currently County Fair Food Stores has four locations in two states. Partnering with another family-owned business to provide even more services to area customers will further enhance their investment into the community.

President John Clarke of County Fair is happy to form a relationship with Lewis Drug, another long-term family business. “Adding a pharmacy to County Fair makes our store truly a one-stop store. Adding family-owned Lewis Drug is a great fit for both businesses.” Clarke adds, “We’re looking forward to the partnership with Lewis Drug and offering more convenience for our customers.”

In May 2011, County Fair Food Store and Puetz Corporation announced their plans for a large expansion and renovation to the store and County Fair Plaza located at 1305 West Havens.  The expansion will provide a renovated exterior on the entire plaza and within County Fair Food Store, more product options and services, an additional 10,000 square feet and the hiring of approximately 30 more associates. The extensive remodel will also create a more energy efficient building.

Construction is expected to be completed in Spring, 2012.
